Kwele masks represent the spirits of the forest, and are presented during initiation ceremonies, as well as being used to protect villages from harm.
Hand-carved from a single piece of wood, with a rich, polished patina. Significant restoration to both horns. Wall hung.
Origin: Kwele, Gabon. Latter half of the 20th c.
