Jason Mulligan MRSS is a Kent-based stone sculptor, whose work falls broadly within the biomorphic genre. Inspired by a trip to the Carrara marble quarries in Italy in 1996, his passion for stone carving, and for stone as a medium for his work, has stayed with him ever since.

Various subjects are at play within his sculpture, stemming primarily from his interest in archaeological and anthropological objects. His large-scale pieces often cause the viewer to examine their surroundings more closely, or to view them with fresh eyes, whilst his current work is informed by cultural objects, and a fascination with prehistoric stone artefacts. This layering of historic and geological references results in mysterious biomorphic forms that hint at some elusive primeval state, and which due to their non-prescriptive viewing stance, invite the viewer to enjoy multiple readings of the work.

Jason's sculpture is held in collections in USA, Canada, Norway, Europe and the UK. He exhibits in both group and solo exhibitions with a variety of larger public works on display throughout the UK and Eire. He was elected a Member of the Royal Society of Sculptors (MRSS) in 2008.
